Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, said efforts to trace Mr Essandoh since the arrest on Monday, May 11, 2026, have been unsuccessful.

“As I speak to you this morning, we don’t know his whereabouts. Yesterday, I moved around just so I could see him but to no avail,” he said.

According to him, the party has contacted the CID, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) and National Security, but all the institutions denied involvement in the operation.

“We have contacted the CID, NIB and National Security but they are all saying they know nothing about the operation and that it was not their personnel who effected the arrest,” he stated.

Mr Boakye said the arrest was carried out swiftly by armed and masked men who arrived in two Land Cruisers, making it difficult for eyewitnesses to identify the vehicles’ registration numbers.

“The arrest was so swift that the people around couldn’t even remember the number plates of the vehicles. But they were armed and masked,” he claimed.

He added that he returned home around 1 a.m. after spending hours searching for the organiser.

The NPP National Organiser questioned the basis for the arrest, insisting that many Ghanaians continue to openly express concerns about intermittent power outages, popularly known as “dumsor.”

“Who should be arrested for making comments on dumsor? Who doesn’t talk about dumsor? Is that not the reality Ghanaians are going through?” he asked.

Mr Boakye also disclosed that he personally spoke with a CID officer regarding the matter. According to him, the explanation given was that officials had investigated a billboard linked to the case and concluded that it did not contain a dumsor message as initially alleged.

“He said they had gone to check the billboard and it was not about dumsor. It was rather a message celebrating Mahama on March 6, so he is guilty of publication of false news,” he recounted.

He expressed surprise that although the invitation was allegedly issued by the CID, the same institution later denied knowledge of the arrest.

“The invitation was extended by the CID and after his arrest, they are saying they don’t know about it,” he added.

Mr Boakye said the party intends to file an official complaint with the Police over the incident.

NPP National Organiser slams High Court judge over Kpandai rerun ruling https://www.adomonline.com/npp-national-organiser-slams-high-court-judge-over-kpandai-rerun-ruling/ Tue, 09 Dec 2025 16:04:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2608672 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has sharply criticised the High Court judge who ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election, describing the ruling as unjust, flawed, and an overreach of judicial authority.

The rerun order was issued by Justice Emmanuel Bart Plange Brew of the Tamale High Court, after which Parliament on Monday, December 8, 2025, officially declared the Kpandai seat vacant and notified the Electoral Commission (EC).

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Tuesday, December 9, Nana B accused the judge of mishandling the burden of proof, arguing that the ruling favoured speculation over evidence.

“This is not interpretation; this is dictatorship from the bench. Clearly, in this case, the burden of proof was cynically manipulated by this judge,” he stated.

He further criticised the court for failing to hold the petitioner accountable for alleged vandalism that forced the relocation of the collation centre during the election and for accepting what he described as vague and unsubstantiated claims of irregularities.

“The petitioner produced no credible tally, yet speculation became acceptable,” Nana B added.

Nana B slams NDC executives over attire at Ernest Kumi’s one-week observance [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/nana-b-slams-ndc-executives-over-attire-at-ernest-kumis-one-week-observance-audio/ Mon, 01 Sep 2025 11:40:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2573552 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has criticised the conduct of National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives during the one-week observance of the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi.

According to him, the NDC delegation, led by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, appeared in outfits he described as “inappropriate” for a solemn occasion of mourning.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nana Boakye expressed disappointment, stressing that cultural and social norms demand that mourners dress in ways that reflect respect and solidarity with the bereaved family.

He specifically cited Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande, who wore brown, and NDC parliamentary candidate for Akwatia, Bernard Baidoo, who appeared in pink or white. He also pointed out that former Deputy Sports Minister and NDC National Organiser, Joseph Yamin, attended in camouflage trousers and a T-shirt.

“Were they serious about attending a funeral? When they went to the funeral of Omane Boamah and the victims of the helicopter crash, were they in brown? This was not a show of respect,” Nana Boakye remarked.

He further alleged that Asiedu Nketia was seen making gestures “as if to cut off someone’s head,” which drew protests from some mourners who felt disrespected by the delegation’s conduct.

Nana Boakye argued that the appearance of the NDC executives seemed unplanned, “as if they had suddenly remembered to pass through the funeral grounds to avoid backlash.”

He added that when the NPP attended the funeral of the helicopter crash victims, which included five NDC members, they observed full decorum and dressed appropriately.

While stressing that no one physically attacked the NDC delegation, the NPP National Organiser maintained that their behaviour and choice of attire were “highly inappropriate” for the one-week observation of a former Member of Parliament.

He noted that the conduct of some NDC executives fell short of this standard, which he considered disrespectful to the memory of the deceased and insensitive to the grieving family.

The one-week observance, held at Akyem Wenchi in the Eastern Region, drew mourners from across the political divide, as well as friends and family members, who gathered to honour his memory.

Meanwhile, a by-election to choose his successor has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Are we going to build a skyscraper? – Nana B questions Arthur Kennedy [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/are-we-going-to-build-a-skyscraper-nana-b-questions-arthur-kennedy-audio/ Thu, 26 Jun 2025 10:15:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2548502 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has responded to Dr. Arthur Kennedy’s concerns about the timing of the party’s presidential primaries.

Following the NPP’s announcement to hold its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, Dr. Kennedy questioned the decision, asking, “Why pick it in early 2026 when you could wait till mid-2027 or late 2027?”

He argued that the party’s internal discourse had reached a boiling point, and selecting a flagbearer at this stage might be premature and potentially disastrous.

However, in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nana B, who disagreed with Dr. Kennedy’s stance, described the move as a success for the party.

According to him, the NPP’s structures are already firmly in place, and it is misleading to liken the party to a building under construction.

“Are we going to build a house? The NPP structure is already there, so what are we going to build? Are we going to build a skyscraper?” he quizzed.

Nana B argued that 99% of the tensions and internal wrangling within the party stem from the presidential primaries.

“The comparison with a building is totally unacceptable because nobody has said after the presidential primaries, we will hold national, regional, constituency, and polling station elections. We only agreed on the presidential,” he stated.

NPP Chairman apologises after demanding dismissal of all national executives [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/npp-chairman-apologises-after-demanding-dismissal-of-all-national-executives-audio/ Wed, 25 Jun 2025 11:06:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2548104 First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dankwa Smith Butey, is said to have apologised after calling for a complete overhaul of the party’s current leadership.

The NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, disclosed this in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

“Chairman has apologised to the National Council for his statement. It was wrong and unfortunate, and I don’t want to go into it because he has apologised unreservedly. He was not forced to apologise, but we sometimes say things and we realise it was wrong,” he stated.

Chairman Butey had stated that the current national executives failed to deliver on their mandate and must be replaced ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He made these comments in an earlier interview on Dwaso Nsem in May 2025, citing the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections as a major setback that warrants change.

When asked if he shared Chairman Butey’s views, Nana B disagreed, stating that political party organisation is a different matter altogether.

He argued that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) suffered significant electoral defeats in the past with President John Mahama as candidate and Johnson Asiedu Nketia as General Secretary.

“We never thought Mahama would even become President again because he suffered a defeat badly, but he was repackaged and brought back. The NDC also rewarded Asiedu Nketia by voting him as Chairman,” he explained.

Kwakye Ofosu should be sacked – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/kwakye-ofosu-should-be-sacked-nana-b-audio/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 11:37:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523759 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has called for the immediate dismissal of Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana B expressed strong disapproval over comments made by Mr. Kwakye Ofosu concerning recent allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two aircraft that transited through Ghana.

Nana B criticised the Abura Asebu Kwamankese MP for publicly downplaying calls for an investigation into the suspected illicit activities, which were brought to light by Assin South MP, Rev. Ntim Fordjour

Rev. Fordjour had alleged that two flights—AirMed flight NH23AM and Cavok Air private jet Antonov AN-12B—landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025, allegedly carrying cocaine and a large sum of cash.

In response, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu referred to Rev. Fordjour as a “noisemaker” and remarked that if he were President Mahama, he would have ignored the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee. Nonetheless, Mr. Ofosu admitted that an investigation was needed to set the right precedent.

Nana B, however, maintained that Mr. Kwakye Ofosu’s comments directly undermined the President’s authority.

“The President directed all security agencies to collaborate with Ntim Fordjour for investigations, and yet you have the Spokesperson, Kwakye Ofosu, contradicting him. He must not remain the President’s Spokesperson—he must be sacked,” Nana B stated.

“We all respect the President and gave him the mandate to lead. Why should Kwakye Ofosu act with such impunity? He’s making a mockery of the number one gentleman of the land,” he added.

Meanwhile, officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on Wednesday stormed Rev. Fordjour’s residence in Spintex in an attempt to arrest him. However, the operation was halted after NPP members intervened and gathered at the scene.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) over its decision to declare former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Monday, February 17, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the NPP, questioned the OSP’s actions, calling them unnecessary and sensational.

“I am particularly humbled as to why the OSP is still engaging in this drama, in this sensational act going nowhere. How can you declare a person who is not under arrest, or who has not been arrested in any suspicion, any grounds whatsoever, of any crime, or has he been charged with a particular offense wanted?” Mr. Boakye asked.

He further remarked, “I read the notice, and he says that anybody with information about Ofori-Atta should alert the Office of the Special Prosecutor, and I’m like, this is laughable.”

The comment follows the OSP’s official declaration of Mr. Ofori-Atta as wanted on multiple financial misconduct allegations.

Mr. Boakye continued to question the OSP’s actions, arguing that even if Mr. Ofori-Atta were to appear before the Special Prosecutor, he is entitled to remain silent under the Constitution. “It is enshrined in the Constitution, so even if a person should appear before you and he decides not to talk, what do you do?” he said.

The NPP official urged the OSP to proceed to court if it has sufficient evidence against the former minister.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Henry Nana Boakye said he is pained and would wish it didn’t happen.

Oboafo Asante’s move follows his defeat in the NPP parliamentary primary on January 28, 2024.

The incumbent, who was seeking a second term in office, lost the bid to Frank Aseidu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, who garnered 496 votes against his 320.

But Nana B as he is popularly called  said Mr Asante should remember he defeated former MP, Frederick Opare Ansah to assume the seat and should know that is how the game of politics it

According to him, the NPP is committed to engage the MP to resolve all issues and get him to rescind his decision.

According to him, the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame only honoured a visit invitation from Supreme Court judge, Justice Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi.

Unknowing to him, Mr Jakpa, who is the third accuse in the ongoing trial happened to be present because the former is a cousin of Justice Kulendi.

He disclosed this in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Tuesday.

The outspoken politician justified that, there was no way Mr Dame could have walked out on his senior colleague because of Mr Jakpa therefore stayed for the meeting.

He asserted that, the conversation that came up during the meeting appeared Mr Jakpa had reported the Attorney General to Justice Kulendi.

“This meeting was after several messages from Jakpo, requesting a private meeting with the Attorney General but he didn’t respond. I have seen and read those messages.

“Justice Kulendi asked that they meet and catch up and in less than 10 minutes, Jakpa showed up and the judge introduced him as his cousin so they want to find out about the plea bargain,” he stated.

Nana B added that, it is the outcome of the meeting which Mr Jakpa has misconstrued to cast the A-G in a bad light.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Mr Boakye popularly known as Nana B dismissed a recent poll by Info-Analytics, which predicts that NPP would win but with a small margin.

He discredited the organization and suggested that its work lacked credibility.

According to him, “Their polls look like somebody sitting in his living room and conjuring some figures and throwing them out there. We have a credible source and I am saying that we’re going to win with a clear margin.”

Reacting to this on the same show, Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah, defended the credibility of their polls. Dankwah emphasized that their organisation is widely recognised both nationally and internationally for its reliability and accuracy in polling data.

“The whole country knows we are credible, the whole world knows that we are credible. Despite discrediting us publicly, our poll is what they read every night. It’s a statement they make a lot so I am not surprised.”

He further highlighted the significance of voter turnout in determining the outcome of the election, stressing that the winning party would likely be the one capable of mobillising its supporters effectively.

“This election is not going to be a walk in the park. And whoever will win, it will depend on turnout. The competitor who can convince his supporters to come out and vote will most likely have it.”

According to him, all the Minister sought to do was to market and campaign for the NPP candidate, Kwabena Boateng in the build-up to the by-election.

Mr Asenso Boakye addressing Ejisu constituents ahead of the by-election advised them to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate instead of another on April 30.

The Minister who doubles as Bantama Memberof Parliament explained that, it would be difficult for any other candidate aside that of the NPP to come to him and lobby for projects if voted for.

These comments have been widely condemned but Nana B as he is popularly called on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem disagreed.

“Asenso Boakye said nothing wrong. In fact, he spoke well. He is an NPP member, MP and a Minister because of the party so what were people expecting? For him to endorse or campaign for another candidate? definitely not. He said nothing wrong at all,” he stated.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Nana B as he is popularly known stated a reshuffle will bring a new energy in the last days of Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

“It seems the dedication and zeal by some government appointees have waned so we expect them to resign. But if that doesn’t happen, the NPP is looking forward to a reshuffle in the coming days,” he stated.

Nana B’s comment follows a call for reshuffle by NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua.

Delivering his speech at the annual Thanksgiving Service held at the party headquarters on Friday, Mr. Kodua emphasized the importance of appointing new individuals to advance the NPP’s objectives.

According to him, the conduct of some appointees is negatively impacting the party’s popularity.

The NPP General Secretary called on Ministers, CEOs, and MMDCEs who feel fatigued and have not been reshuffled to consider resigning instead of undermining the party’s progress.

In support, Nana B has said the call is legitimate and must not be taken the wrong way.

He disclosed that, there has been some engagements with the President on the need for a reshuffle, hence the NPP supports Mr Kodua’s call.

National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has apologised to presidential aspirant, Alan Kyerematen after the arrival of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia disrupted his speech at an Assin North rally.

According to him, the action which has been widely condemned was without malice.

However, it was a mere communication problem between the organisers and the handlers over the time of arrival.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, Nana B stated it was not deliberate and therefore apologises to Mr Kyerematen in all humility.

“I as the National Organiser, I apologise on my own behalf and that of the organisers to Mr Kyerematen,” he said.

He has also urged supporters not to blow the incident out of proportion.

Mr Kyerematen joined senior officials of the NPP at Assin North on Sunday for the final rally for Tuesday’s bye-election.

But while addressing the rally, Dr Bawumia’s arrival disrupted his speech as organisers told him to pause.

The Vice President walked up to the podium amidst cheers and briefly greeted Mr Kyerematen before proceeding to his seat.

Nana B takes on NDC over parliamentary leadership reshuffle [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/nana-b-takes-on-ndc-over-parliamentary-leadership-reshuffle-video/ Sat, 28 Jan 2023 23:26:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2210043 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) has chastised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over its Parliamentary leadership reshuffle.

According to him, the reasons the NDC has given for the reshuffling have been defeated considering the new leaders elected.

He said Ajumako-Anyan-Essiam MP, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, can attest he is no match to Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu, when it comes to political experience and competence demonstrated over the years.

The NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, justifying the reshuffle said it forms part of the reorganisation process to help the party capture political power during the 2024 elections.

Touching on the timing of the party’s decision and its intended effect, Mr Nketia stressed that the timing is in line with plans to fully prepare the party for the race ahead.

On what informed this new leadership, Mr Nketia said as the days of the elections get closer, the debates on the floor of Parliament will change to issues on the economy, infrastructure and energy, hence it is important they [NDC] put the best in those fields to properly argue their stance.

Reacting to the development on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana B asserted the reasons were lame and grossly untenable.

In his view, Ato Forson as the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee was doing an excellent job and nobody was jostling for the position with him.

He said he, therefore, believes he [Ato Forson] could have served the purpose the NDC is seeking going into the 2024 election without a reshuffle.

National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has stated he is disappointed in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for not extending an invitation to them during their Youth and Women Conference.

The conference saw the election of National Youth and Women Organisers who came over the weekend at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

But contrary to what has been the norm, the NPP and other political parties were missing in action.

Reacting to the development, Nana B indicated it was not deliberate on the part of the NPP but they were not invited.

According to him, it was a wise thing for the NPP to stay away than to show up uninvited.

“The exercise was a step in the right direction because it strengthens democracy but it was a blunder for them not to have invited us [NPP]. We were present last four years when they held it at Millenium City (YesuKrom) because they formally invited us and I was expecting same to happen this year so it is a big minus and I am very disappointed,” he fumed on Accra-based Okay FM.

Aside from delays and chaos that marred the election, the process went on smoothly on Saturday.

Nana B tackles GRA over tax collection approach in Ashanti Region https://www.adomonline.com/nana-b-tackles-gra-over-tax-collection-approach-in-ashanti-region/ Wed, 12 Oct 2022 15:52:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2170876 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has taken on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) over its tax collection approach in the Ashanti region.

The authority, according to Nana B, as he is widely known, has stationed its officers at shops, restaurants, and other businesses to record sales of products for tax purposes.

Nana B made these comments on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, citing the closure of major shops in Kumasi in protest of killer taxes.

“We are not in normal times because businesses and individuals are bearing the brunt of the twin global crisis; covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war and the least expected from GRA is to police traders who no tax evasion findings have been made against.

“These traders are the same people you need the taxes from so you are not expected to be oppressive, repressive, and suppressive,” he fumed.

Traders in parts of the central business district of Adum in Kumasi on Monday locked up their shops in protest against rising taxation on their goods.

Some traders were unhappy about the activities of some officials of GRA posted to their shops.

“Ghana Revenue Authority agents have been posted to our shops to deduct 6% from every product purchased. We are also unhappy with the numerous charges of officials from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

“The cedi continues to depreciate affecting our profit margins. Business is just slow lately. How can our businesses survive under these harsh conditions?” a trader quizzed.

But to Nana B, even if the approach is the new way GRA wants to go, they should have effectively communicated and educated the traders on it.

“It’s been three days since some shops were closed in Kumasi but nothing has come from GRA and this means that their Public Relations unit is dead,” he stated.
