A man believed to be in his thirties has allegedly been beaten to death by an angry mob in Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region following accusations of theft.
The deceased, whose identity is yet to be established, was reportedly accused of stealing and allegedly threatening some residents with a knife, sparking outrage among members of the community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred after residents confronted the suspect over the alleged theft. The situation reportedly escalated when he was said to have brandished a knife during the confrontation.
The allegations are said to have provoked some youth in the area, who allegedly attacked the suspect.
The man sustained severe injuries during the assault and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident created tension in parts of Nkawkaw as residents gathered around the scene following the suspected mob action.
At the time of filing this report, the body of the deceased reportedly remained by the roadside while residents looked on.
