For 98-year-old Nana Adu, what should have been a peaceful night turned into a nightmare after heavy rains triggered flooding that swept through his home near the bridge linking Christian Village and Parakuo Junction.
The nearly century-old resident is among several victims affected by the floods that inundated homes and businesses in the area following Wednesday’s downpour.

But unlike many others, Nana Adu now faces the difficult reality of rebuilding his life at an age when he should be enjoying comfort and security.
Floodwaters surged into his home, damaging personal belongings and leaving parts of the property submerged. The force of the water also caused structural damage, leaving the elderly man and his family distressed and uncertain about their next steps.
As he surveyed the destruction, Nana Adu recounted the frightening moments when the floodwaters entered his compound, turning rooms into pools and forcing family members to scramble to save what they could.

Around the affected community, traders and residents were seen cleaning up debris, washing mud-stained belongings, and assessing the extent of their losses.
The bridge connecting Christian Village and Parakuo Junction remains choked with debris, raising concerns among residents that the blockage may have worsened the flooding.
For Nana Adu’s family, however, the focus is on recovery. His wife, Mrs. Adu, appealed to government and relevant authorities to intervene and provide relief to affected residents.
She also called for urgent measures to address the persistent flooding problem in the area, particularly around the bridge, to prevent future disasters from destroying lives and property.
