A chieftaincy clash at Bole in the Bole District of the Northern Region has left two persons dead and several injured.

The deceased was one Yakubu Yacob, a 40-year-old and one other person who is yet to be identified.

They were allegedly shot Sunday night as they were in a celebration mood to enskin Abdullai Issahaku Kent as Bole Wura by an unknown person.

In  June  2017  confusion broke between members of Safone and the Mandari skin over the rightful candidate of the Bole skin after the chief, Bolewura Awuladese Pontomprong Mahama (II) died.

The case proceeded to court and was ruled in favour of chief Abdulai Issahaku Kent.

According to eye witnesses, some houses have been setablaze and vehicles vandalized

The regional police spokesperson, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko, who confirmed the incident to Adom News said “ last night Mandari gate were observing Damba Festival when people fired at them, claiming two lives and leaving  several others injured.

According to him, the Mandaris also retaliated with gunshots, injuring some people on the rival side.

All injured persons, according to him, were sent to the Bole Hospital while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the  Bole Government Hospital morgue.

He added that security has been tightened at Bole tomaintain peace in the district.
