A 29-year-old tailor, Gado Yahaya, is in court for allegedly killing his neighbour during an argument over a bucket of water.
The incident occurred at Rigasa community in Nigeria and was confirmed by police in Kaduna.
According reports, the deceased, Liman Salisu, died during a fight with Yahaya following an argument over a bucket of water.
A statement released by the police command read:
“He is a resident of Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and was arraigned on charges of culpable homicide before a Kaduna Magistrate Court on Monday.
“The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo alleged that Yahaya killed Salisu with a pestle during their fight over the bucket of water.
“In the course of the fight, he went into the kitchen, picked a pestle and hit Salisu on his head. He slumped and died on the way to the hospital.”
Chief Magistrate of the court in Kaduna, Ibrahim Emmanuel, noted that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter, before ordering that Yahaya be remanded in a correctional facility.
