President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been urged to take a cue from the humiliating defeat of popular aspiring assemblyman, Nana Adabor Ibrahim Isaah Ampim, popularly known as ‘ Hon. Aponkye’.

 The Adukrom Nima Electoral Area Assemblyman hopeful was first from the bottom in a contest he was very confident of winning.

His defeat, according to Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor should serve as a warning signal to President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He explained that, ‘Hon. Aponkye’s’ loss was an indication that, the people could not be taken for granted with juicy promises.

The NDC Deputy General Secretary noted that it was obvious the assemblyman hopeful, who promised to serve porridge to constituents every morning, was just promising to win votes.

He said since the NPP used the same strategy to win the 2016 general election and would be punished by Ghanaians in 2020.

“Hon Aponkye’s defeat is a big lesson for politicians that you cannot take the people for granted all the time. President Akufo-Addo did it in 2016 and is going to pay dearly for it in 2020,” he added.
