Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has raised alarm over what he describes as ongoing intimidation and exploitation by his former record label, Ground Up Chale, in a strongly worded social media post that has sparked widespread concern among fans.

In the post, the award-winning artiste suggested that his safety could be at risk, stating that if “anything happens” to him, key figures at Ground Up Chale, including co-founder Glen Boateng, should be held responsible.

Kwesi Arthur alleged that he is being asked to pay $150,000 for using images of himself in a new independent project, despite no longer being affiliated with the label.

According to the musician, Ground Up Chale has claimed ownership of his image, music and all creative works associated with him from 2016 to date. He strongly disputed this claim, stressing that he has not worked with the label since the release of his Son of Jacob album and has had no formal affiliation with the company for several years.

The rapper further alleged that he did not earn any income from his music during his time with the label, accusing Glen Boateng of benefiting financially from his work. He also claimed he has been subjected to constant threats and manipulation aimed at preventing him from releasing music independently.

Kwesi Arthur warned that if his upcoming project is taken down, the public should hold Glen Boateng responsible, accusing him of actively working to stop him from putting out music altogether.

Breaking his silence, the musician said the situation has taken a serious toll on his mental health and overall wellbeing. He explained that his decision to go public was to protect himself and his family, and to make the truth known.

As of now, Ground Up Chale and Glen Boateng have not publicly responded to the allegations.
