Health workers at the Tamale Teaching Hospital have suspended their strike following the arrest of irate youth group who attacked their Chief Executive Officer, Dr. David Kolbila.
They called off the strike following the intervention of some prominent leaders including chiefs in the Northern Region.
Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Tamale Teaching Hospital Chapter, Mohammed Ibn Issaka, confirmed this Thursday.

The withdrawal of services took effect Wednesday and only emergency and in-patient cases are being attended to at the facility.
The action by the health staff of the Hospital followed last Monday’s incident, where some youth groups locked up the offices of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TTH and guided him out of the Hospital’s premises.
They took away the keys to the office temporarily disrupting administrative work at the Hospital.

The youth groups alleged corruption on the parts of the CEO of the TTH as the basis for their action.
The staff decided to go on strike in solidarity with Dr. David Kolbila.
But after the opinion leaders’ assuranced them of maximum security protection, Mohammed Ibn Issaka said they resolved to rescind the decision.
He added that the police administration has also demonstrated enough commitment to establish a permanent police post at the hospital premises.
