The Chief Executive Officer of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Prof. Ken Attafuah has disclosed that as part of the outfit’s efforts to improve accountability and transparency, all officials undertaking the Ghana Card registration exercise were employed through due procedures with all diligence done.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Prof. Attafuah said officials were given adequate training before the entire exercise begun.
“They were all employed with due diligence done because I knew someday, I will be gone and someone will come to investigate the employment procedures and so there must be evidence to prove the processes we went through,” he said.

Prof. Attafuah added that the Authority works by placing the interest of Ghanaians first before any other thing.
“We don’t work based on political affiliation but with integrity and so through the training process, they (officials) were given training on integrity, customer service and we made sure they understood all the words in the Ghana anthem.
“I made them understand Ghanaians are tired of being treated harshly and so the need for them to show patriotism and dedication at the registration centres,” he said.

Commenting on the officials who were allegedly caught registering people at night, Prof. Attafuah said “I don’t know what motivated them to do that but this is stu….ty because our activity log is captured on our back end at the headquarters so I get every detail.”
