Randy Abbey is among the three Division One League clubs representatives who have been voted onto the new Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council.

The other two are Mark Addo and Samuel Anim Addo.

The three will serve on the GFA Executive Council for the next four years.

Of the nine contestants who vied for the three slots available for second-tier clubs, Randy Abbey came first with 26 votes followed by Mark Addo and Samuel Anim Addo with 25 and 19 votes respectively.

”I knew the delegates were going to repose confidence in me,” A happy Randy Abbey told reporters. 

He added; ”It’s going to be a team, It’s not about me. What is ahead of us[new GFA administration] is how to restore the brand, that’s the big thing. How we go about it will be discussed when we meet as a team.”

Samuel Anim Addo, who is the business manager of former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan also spoke to reporters and was grateful to the delegates. He promised to revive “grassroots football.”

Randy Abbey qualified to contest as the Director of Heart of Lions, Mark Addo is Chief Executive Officer of Nzema Kotoko and Samuel Anim Addo contested on the ticket of Young Apostles FC.

Popular football administrator Alhaji Karim Grusah failed to get onto the Executive Council as he earned 9 votes.

The three join already elected Habiba Atta Forson (Women’s rep) and Linford Asamoah (Regional FA rep) on the Executive Council.

The Executive Council will be complete with five representatives from 16 Premier League clubs.
