Francis Senanu Dekutse, an aspiring Keta Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has taken his campaign for a stronger grassroots party structure to branch executives, calling for an end to internal divisions and a renewed focus on the collective interest of the party.
As part of his ongoing Ayekoo and familiarisation tour across NDC branches in the Keta Constituency, Mr Dekutse engaged newly elected and existing branch executives, appealing for reconciliation, unity and renewed commitment to the party.
His message was clear: disagreements arising from internal contests must not be allowed to weaken the party ahead of its next political battle.
Mr Dekutse acknowledged that some misunderstandings emerged during the recent branch elections but urged members to regard the exercise as part of the democratic process and move beyond the differences it created.
He said the NDC could remain politically relevant and effective only if its grassroots remained united, motivated and respected.
According to him, branch executives form the foundation of the party and must therefore be supported, encouraged and given the confidence to lead at the grassroots.
500 bags of fertiliser donated
Beyond the call for unity, Mr Dekutse demonstrated his commitment to the grassroots through practical support.
He presented 500 bags of fertiliser to branch executives to support local farmers and branch activities.
The donation follows an earlier presentation of another 500 bags, some of which were lost after unexpected flooding affected farms shortly after farmers had applied the fertiliser.
Mr Dekutse said the additional support was intended to cushion affected farmers, enable them to continue farming and improve their prospects of securing better yields.
The gesture adds a practical dimension to his grassroots engagement, particularly in a constituency where farming remains an important source of livelihood for many families.
Focus on building party from branches
Mr Dekutse also outlined his vision of a constituency party that places the grassroots at the centre of decision-making and party development.
He said his priority would be to strengthen the relationship between constituency executives and branches, improve grassroots participation and create a more united and responsive party structure.
He appealed to the executives to support his vision when the party’s nomination and campaign processes commence, stressing that his ambition was not merely to occupy a position but to contribute to rebuilding and strengthening the NDC in Keta.
The branch executives expressed appreciation for the engagement and support extended to them and farmers.
They encouraged Mr Dekutse to sustain his direct interaction with the grassroots, saying such engagements were important in strengthening trust and ensuring that the concerns of ordinary party members were heard.
As the NDC prepares for its next internal contest, Mr Dekutse’s tour is placing unity, grassroots empowerment and practical support at the centre of his campaign message as he seeks to build a stronger and more cohesive party in Keta.
