The race for various positions in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional elections has attracted about 830 aspirants, according to the party.

The figure was disclosed after the party closed the nomination form-picking stage, with candidates now expected to complete the filing process.

Speaking to Accra-based Channel One News, NDC Deputy Director of Elections, Mahdi Gibril, said a majority of the party’s current regional executives had also picked forms to retain their positions.

“About 830 aspirants have picked forms to contest for various positions. Majority of the incumbent executives have picked nomination,” he noted.

Mr Gibril said aspirants who have picked nomination forms must now settle their filing fees and complete the submission of their details through the party’s online platform.

He explained that after completing the online process, aspirants will have to submit their full nomination documents physically to the Election Committee.

The physical submission exercise is scheduled for October 14 and 15.

The online platform will, however, remain open to aspirants who have already picked forms but are yet to pay their filing fees or complete the required online submission.
