The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has postponed the reopening of the university for the 2026/2027 academic year indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).
The reopening, initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, has been put on hold because of the strike’s impact on the university’s operations and administration.
In a notice issued on Friday, October 9, the University Management informed students, parents, guardians and the general public of the decision.
It advised all stakeholders to take note of the development and indicated that further updates would be provided when a revised reopening date is determined.
Management apologised for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and appealed for the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders.
