Akosua Achiaa Sarpong, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Faculty of Law, was named the best overall student at the 63rd Call to the Bar.
She won the John Mensah Sarbah Award for the best all-round performance in the Professional Law Examinations as well as the prize for Best Student in Civil Procedure.
Ms Sarpong is an old student of Notre Dame Girls Senior High School in the Bono Region.
This is the 11th time a graduate of the KNUST law faculty has taken the Sarbah award since 2011, and the fourth year in a row since 2023.
Last year’s overall best, Latifa Teiya Fuseini, also studied law at KNUST.
The ceremony formally admitted 1,568 lawyers as Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
Among them were Communications Minister Sam George; Lands Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, and Members of Parliament Phylis Naa Koryo Okunor and Davis Ansah Opoku.
Media personalities, Ayisha Ibrahim, Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, Naa Ashorkor Mensah Doku, and Umaru Sanda were also part of the new lawyers.
