The national Road safety Ambassador, Gabby Adu-Gyamfi has called on the government to ban the use of vehicles with automatic transmission in the country.
According to him, the increasing use of such vehicles in the country is not compelling many people to go through proper driving training to acquire license before taking to the road.
“Enact a law preventing automobile manufacturers from selling cars in Ghana with automatic steering wheel,” he urged.
Mr Adu-Gyamfi said the use of the automatic transmission has made most drivers ‘lazy’.
“The driver of a manual constantly fidgets with the gear shift. An upshift here, a downshift there, everywhere a shift.
“Often this driver has the left hand on the steering wheel, the right on the gear knob. Such drivers I believe are more attune with the operation of their vehicle.
They even look at the each other once in a while and that does not help,” he said.
He thus called on Parliament to enact a law against the use of the automatic steering wheel vehicles in the country.

  10. Saaaaa, Mr Ambassador, get educated on road safety issues before making comments, check the number of accident cars how many are as automatic. Please use the privilege well.

  11. Comment:Primitive mind .
wow. am really shocked anyone will ever say things like this. how does automatic vehicle makes a driver lazy and a manual driver be attune with what is going on?

  12. in the civilized world( USA), emergency toll free numbers are called for breakdown and accident vehicles. The area is secured with devices such as neon lights, etc with the police cars/vans standing there till a tow truck arrives to clear the road. On the towing issue in Ghana follow this simple practice and leave the people alone. In this 21st century with IT abound why shouldnt you think out of the box where you can put people to work and also make money for the institutions. The insurance companies in Ghana are a fraud so in finding a way to curb road safetyness everybody must be patriotic and competent to make the country better. Stay away from corruption and propaganda. This guy ambassador doesnt know what the hell he is talkng about. Pray for him.

  13. Look the guy e-face, ibi like i-twaa o e tot before the interview. What does this mean? Who n who look at each other? Eeeii Ambassador paaa nie?

  16. Fix the loopholes in licensing unqualified people as drivers and lets have our peace of mind.
Whiles others are thinking of building automobiles that are not even operated by humans, here we are thinking of going backwards to the manual transmission .
    What’s the point anyway?

  17. You see the Nonsense of I have money and I want a position. Uneducated, primitively minded baboons are given such important positions as road safety ambassadors. No wonder articulated trucks are left in the middle of hi ways killing innocent citizens.

  19. only an uneducated human will make this statement. You should be thinking of how to create jobs for Ghanaians or how an Ambassador as you will advice gov’t. to stop buying cars abroad and invest in our local car manufacturer like Kantaka but they prefer to go to India to buy TATA and Korea for KIA. You must be ashamed of yourself as an ambassador making such unnecessary statement.
Take a very good nap and think of the needful before talking. He he able or disable? will be very pleased if you could pass this on.
