Ebenezer Teye Larbi

Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo constituency, Ebenezer Teye Larbi, has explained the erstwhile Mahama administration’s version of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) was targeted at adolescents.

According to him, government’s claim that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) introduced the programme in schools in 2015 is borne out of cowardice.

Government made a u-turn on its plan to roll out the CSE in the educational curriculum when many interest groups, including parents, kicked against it.

The move, they argued, is a subtle way of conditioning the minds of the children to explore Lesbian, Gay, bisexual and Transgender lifestyle.

The NDC joined the pressure accusing President Nana Akufo-Addo of paving the way for the legalisation of homosexuality in Ghana.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in response said the NDC rather introduced the programme in 2015, thus, cannot accuse them of seeking to correct their wrongs.

But, setting the records straight on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme Friday, Hon. Larbi said what the NDC sought to champion was sex education for adolescents.

“I’m surprised and scandalised this government wants to blame NDC for this because our document on CSE aimed at preventing sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancy,” he opined.

However, the NPP document, the Lower Manya Krobo MP said emphasises on free thinking and accepting people with other sexual orientations.

This position, he said, is the reason why the NDC is raising red flags to save Ghana’s future generation.

Citing President Nana Akufo-Addo’s comment in an interview on Al-Jazeera in November 2017 on the legalisation of homosexuality in Ghana as an example, Hon. Larbi observed that, it is a clear attestation that he [Nana] supports the immoral act.
