The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has launched a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshop for teachers in the constituency as part of efforts to strengthen teacher capacity and improve learning outcomes.

The initiative, which aligns with the National Teaching Council 2025 guidelines requiring all teachers to earn 20 CPD points annually, is expected to benefit about 1,200 teachers and education staff from basic schools, senior high schools and the Municipal Education Directorate.

The programme is being organised under the sponsorship of Mr. Agbana and delivered by Bismark Tay Leadership Solutions (BTLS), an accredited training provider.

The workshops are structured to take place on a termly basis and will focus on practical classroom and leadership development skills.

Training modules for basic school teachers include positive discipline, classroom management, learner assessment and test-item preparation, while senior high school teachers will receive training on the use of artificial intelligence to enhance teaching and learning.

Administrative and education office staff are also expected to undergo training in educational leadership and people management to improve institutional efficiency.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Agbana said the programme demonstrates his commitment to educational development within the constituency.

“Teachers are the foundation of quality education and the transformation of our communities, and this investment is about securing the future of our children,” he stated.

He urged participants to take the programme seriously in order to maximise its impact on education delivery in the area.

“By empowering our educators, we are building a stronger constituency for generations to come,” he added.

The workshop is scheduled to run from May 18 to 22 and June 1, 2026 for basic school teachers, June 2 to 5, 2026 for senior high school teachers, and June 10, 2026 for administrative staff.
