Asante Kotoko have launched a formal investigation into allegations of attempted bribery involving some of its players ahead of their final Ghana Premier League fixture against Swedru All Blacks at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Reports had circulated prior to the match suggesting that an official attempted to influence members of the playing squad.

However, defender Patrick Asiedu is said to have reported the matter to the club’s management for further action.

In a statement released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the club confirmed that its Board and Management met with players and the technical team on May 25 to address concerns over the team’s underwhelming performances during the 2025/26 season.

The discussions also covered the bribery allegations, which are believed to have emerged in the build-up to the final league game.

Kotoko has since initiated a full-scale probe into the matter, stressing its determination to establish the facts and ensure accountability.

The club commended Asiedu for what it described as professionalism and integrity, saying he acted promptly in escalating the issue through the appropriate channels.

“Asante Kotoko treats issues of this nature with the utmost seriousness,” the club noted, adding that any individual found culpable will face disciplinary measures following the outcome of investigations.

Management also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism and integrity across all levels of the club as it navigates a challenging campaign.

On the pitch, however, Kotoko suffered a 2-1 defeat in the match.
