The Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Bonaba Baba Salifu Atamale Lemyaarum, has commended the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, for his ongoing nationwide “Thank You” tour, describing it as a demonstration of maturity, humility, and respect for the Ghanaian people.
Mr Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” paid a courtesy call on the Bongo Palace as part of efforts to express gratitude to traditional leaders, party supporters, and the general public for their continued support.
Addressing a gathering at the palace, the Paramount Chief noted that it is uncommon for national political figures to visit constituencies individually to acknowledge grassroots backing.
“What you are doing today is a mark of full maturity and humility. By visiting every constituency to thank the chiefs and the people, you are showing that you do not take the mandate of the people for granted,” he stated.
He added that the Chairman’s gesture helps bridge the gap between political leadership and traditional authorities while fostering unity beyond partisan lines.
The Chief also praised Mr Asiedu Nketia for his consistency and for maintaining a focus on citizens, whom he described as the foundation of the country’s democracy.
In response, Mr Asiedu Nketia expressed appreciation to the Bongo Traditional Council for the warm reception and their role in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
“My mission is simple: to say thank you. No vote is too small to be appreciated and no constituency is too far to be visited,” he said, emphasising that leadership is rooted in service and gratitude.
The nationwide tour, which has taken the NDC Chairman across several regions, is seen by observers as a move to strengthen grassroots engagement and consolidate party support ahead of future political activities.
He was accompanied by regional executives and party stalwarts, who joined him in paying homage at the palace. The visit ended with traditional prayers from elders, who wished him strength and wisdom in his continued service to the nation.
