The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has disclosed that Mahamudu Bawumia has held a series of meetings with former flagbearer aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to foster unity ahead of the party’s next political phase.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Awuku described the engagements as productive and focused on consolidating support within the party.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia initiated the meetings with key figures including Kennedy Agyapong and Kwabena Agyapong, adding that discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere.
He noted that the interactions left the NPP flagbearer feeling satisfied and reassured of the backing of his former contenders.
“He had a very good discussion. He left both Kennedy Agyapong’s meeting and Kwabena Agyapong’s meeting feeling satisfied that he has the support of his colleagues,” Mr Awuku said.
He added that Dr. Bawumia also met Yaw Osei Adutwum and Bryan Acheampong, where ideas were shared and advice offered to strengthen the party’s direction.
Mr Awuku emphasised that the engagements have reinforced a shared belief among party leaders that the NPP remains the best alternative for governing Ghana.
“In all, they were fortified in their belief that the NPP can rescue Ghana better and put us on the path of prosperity,” he stated.
He added that as flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia is open to input from all stakeholders within the party and is committed to building consensus ahead of the elections.
