The suspect in the alleged abduction of a nine-year-old girl in the Odumase-Krobo District has been remanded into police custody after appearing before court, while the victim has been safely reunited with her family.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed that Regina Mamle Tawiah, 36, was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, where she pleaded not guilty to charges related to the incident.

The court subsequently remanded her into custody to reappear on May 5, 2026, for a case management conference.

The development follows her earlier arrest at the Kotoka International Airport, where security operatives intercepted her while she was allegedly attempting to take the child out of the country.

Police say the victim, who had been reported missing by her father on April 19, was rescued during the operation and has since been reunited with her family.

Investigations into the case are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted abduction.

The Eastern Regional Police Command has reiterated its call on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to support law enforcement efforts.
