Six fresh faces have earned call-ups to the Black Queens, ahead of the upcoming Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The invitational tournament forms a key part of Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, offering the technical team an early look at emerging talent as preparations gather momentum.

Goalkeeper Rose Baah leads the list of newcomers, joined by defenders Diana Amoako and Alexandra Emefa Tay, wingers Sharon Sampson and Helen Alomenu, and forward Ajegipena Zakaria. Their selection underlines a deliberate effort to inject youth and competition into the squad as the Queens intensify their preparations for the continental showpiece.

For Baah, the invitation marks a significant milestone in her career. Rewarded for her consistent performances at club level, she now steps into the national setup with the chance to challenge for a place between the posts.

At the back, Amoako and Tay—both graduates of Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Princesses—will be eager to translate their youth-team promise onto the senior stage while adding depth to the defensive unit.

Sampson and Alomenu are expected to provide pace and directness on the wings, giving the Queens additional width and attacking options. Meanwhile, Zakaria’s inclusion strengthens the forward line, with the striker set to compete for a role in the team’s frontline during the tournament.

The Pink Ladies Cup will offer the six players their first exposure to senior international football, as well as a valuable opportunity to settle into the demands of the national team environment.

Beyond results, the competition is viewed as a critical assessment platform for the coaching staff as they shape a competitive squad for the 2026 WAFCON.

Following the tournament, the Black Queens are scheduled to wrap up their preparations with a friendly against Ivory Coast in Morocco before the start of the championship.
