President John Dramani Mahama is expected to inspect progress on the Kasoa–Winneba road later today, as government pushes ahead with major upgrades along the coastal corridor.
The visit comes on the back of a progress update from the Ministry of Roads and Highways on the dualisation of the Winneba–Cape Coast Road Project (km30–km54), particularly Lot 2 covering the 24km stretch between Winneba and Mankessim.

According to the update, shared by Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu, work on the project is advancing steadily, with physical progress currently estimated at 25%.

Construction began in December 2025 and is scheduled for completion in November 2027.
So far, the contractor has completed site clearing as well as major culverts and drainage systems. Ongoing works include subbase and base formation, alongside the construction of two interchanges at Apam Junction and Otaw.

The scope of the project covers vegetation clearing, road formation, asphaltic surfacing, drainage infrastructure, pedestrian underpasses, installation of streetlights, road furniture and designated bus stops.
When completed, the dualisation is expected to ease congestion, reduce travel time and improve traffic flow between Accra, Cape Coast and Takoradi, while boosting economic activity along the route.
