The High Court of Ghana (Criminal Division) in Tamale is expected to deliver judgment today in a long-running corruption case involving former officials of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and others.

This was disclosed in a statement shared by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on Thursday, April 23.

The case, The Republic v. Sumaila Abdul Rahman & 3 Others, has been before the court for nearly four years and centres on alleged corruption and related offences tied to procurement activities under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).

Those standing trial include Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, a former Chief Executive Officer of the NDA; Stephen Yir-Eru Engmen, former Deputy CEO in charge of Operations; Patrick Seidu, former Deputy CEO for Finance and Administration; and Andrew Kuundaari, Chief Executive Officer of A&QS Consortium Ltd.

Earlier in the proceedings, the accused persons filed a submission of no case, which was dismissed by the trial court. An appeal against that decision was also unanimously rejected by the Court of Appeal, clearing the way for the trial to continue to its final stage.

With the defence closed and final arguments already presented, the court is now set to deliver its judgment in a case that has attracted significant public attention over the years.
