Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson has pledged thorough preparation as his team shifts focus to the final round of qualification for the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Ghana will face Uganda in May for a place at the global showpiece after securing a 3–2 aggregate victory over South Africa in the previous round.
Priscilla Mensah’s decisive strike earned the Black Princesses a 1–0 win in the return leg, sealing qualification following a 2–2 draw in the first meeting at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking upon the team’s arrival in Accra, Sampson expressed satisfaction with the result but made it clear that his attention has already turned to the final hurdle.
“[Victory over South Africa] was so important. We want to go to the World Cup, and we knew that after our 2–2 draw in Accra, we had to beat South Africa and then move into the next round of the qualifiers,” he told Joy Sports.
“We have done it, and now we are extremely happy.
“[The game against Uganda] is a big deal. Our objective is to go to the World Cup.
“Now we have Uganda as the last hurdle, so we will prepare ourselves and make sure we overcome them as well,” he added.
The Black Princesses are expected to regroup in April ahead of the decisive fixture in May.
Ghana is chasing an eighth consecutive appearance at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, having featured in every edition since making their debut in 2010.
