A major road incident involving a fuel tanker has occurred at Ahodwo in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The tanker, which was transporting about 54,000 litres of petrol, reportedly crashed into several used vehicles displayed for sale at a roadside garage near +2 Pub, causing significant damage.

In response, the GNFS dispatched a recovery truck to the scene to assist in towing the tanker and supporting ongoing recovery operations.

Firefighters immediately began cooling operations to reduce the risk of fire or explosion due to the highly flammable cargo.

Emergency teams worked to stabilise the situation and secure the area, while authorities cordoned off the vicinity to allow smooth recovery efforts, resulting in temporary traffic disruption.

Although no casualties had been officially confirmed at the time of reporting, the incident has raised concerns about the safety of fuel transportation through busy urban areas.
