Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has expressed strong confidence that the Black Queens can advance to the next stage of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana’s campaign began with a 2-0 loss to defending champions South Africa on Monday.

However, under the leadership of coach Kim Lars Björkegren, the Black Queens are set to face Mali today, July 11, in their second Group C match, before concluding the group stage against Tanzania on Monday.

Despite currently sitting at the bottom of the group without any points, Sannie Daara remains optimistic about Ghana’s qualification prospects.

“I believe the Black Queens will qualify for the next round of the competition,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

Now serving as a Senior Media Officer at the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Sannie Daara also urged the government to invest more in women’s football through strategic partnerships with the GFA.

“I will urge the government to help invest in women’s football by partnering with the Ghana Football Association,” he said.

The crucial clash will take place at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, with kick-off set for 16:00 GMT.
