A fertility specialist at Jubail Specialist Hospital is advocating for more men, especially in Ghana to cultivate the habit of donating sperms.

This, according to Dr Kofi Amaniampong, is to enable couples finding it difficult to have children the natural way to fulfill their dream.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Thursday he revealed that, in four out of 10 couples in Ghana, either the man or the woman has a problem with the reproductive system.

Dr Amaniampong, who is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with over 40 years experience, said sperm donors have been of tremendous help to many couples whose marriages were on the brink of collapse.

He bemoaned the misconception about sperm donation, especially in Ghana which, in his view, has deterred many prospective men from donating.

“Sperm donation is like blood donation but people are not ready to do it because of stigmatisation, but it is normal,” the fertility specialist stated.

Dr Amaniampong urged all men, who wish to donate their sperms, to freely walk to any fertility hospital across the country to support ‘needy couples’.
