Information Minister, MP, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information has given an assurance of a cordial relationship between Ghana and Nigeria following reports of the involvement of Nigerians in high profile crimes in Ghana in recent times.

The assurance of the Minister follows concerns raised by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Micheal Olufemi Abikoye that the nature of reportage on crimes involving Nigerians demonstrated some form of xenophobia which could mar the relationship between the two countries.

However, speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, the Minister assured that there was no cause for alarm with regards to the relationship between Ghana and Nigeria.

“Ghana and Nigeria still have a cordial relationship because there are as many Ghanaians in Nigeria just like they are in Ghana, but moving forward we must be circumspect in our reports and must deal with the crime and stop the stereotyping,” he urged.
