The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Cabinet has approved Ghana’s new e-Visa policy as part of efforts to modernise travel procedures and attract tourism and business investment.
In a post shared on X, the Minister explained that the e-Visa regime will apply to travellers visiting Ghana for business and tourism purposes.
He noted that the policy is aimed at positioning Ghana as a more welcoming destination, particularly at a time when some countries are tightening travel restrictions.
“When others make you feel unwelcome, Ghana says this is your home to invest and to enjoy the beauty of nature,” he stated.
Mr Ablakwa also referenced President John Dramani Mahama’s declaration at his inauguration that “Ghana is open for business again,” stressing that the new policy reinforces that commitment.
According to him, the introduction of the e-Visa system forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s image as one of Africa’s most peaceful, stable, and business-friendly destinations, while leveraging technology to improve efficiency and convenience for travellers.
He added that the system will be backed by a robust security vetting framework to ensure national safety is not compromised.
The Minister further indicated that the reform aligns with the government’s wider agenda of “resetting Ghana” across key sectors of development.
