7-year-old accident victim needs GhȻ700 daily for medical upkeep

Doctors the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi say a 7-year-old boy who was run over by a truck at Samproso in Offinso, needs GhȻ700 daily for medical care.
The boy got involved in the accent on his way home after he was allegedly sacked from school for owing Gh¢2.20 pesewas. The school has however denied the claim.
The tragedy has resulted in the amputation of the entire lower part of the boy’s body.
Doctors say he has undergone successful preliminary surgery but requires a lot of money to take care of medication and general care.
Head of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at KATH, Dr. Adabie Appiah, said between GhȻ500 and GhȻ700 is spent on him daily.
Dr. Appiah told Nhyira News a second surgery to cover the wounds, will take several months to heal.
Meanwhile, international NGO, Provident Children Charity Foundation, has pledged to take up the medical bills and, subsequently support the boy’s education.
Members of the group have already donated Gh¢4,000 cedis which has been presented to the boy’s mother.
