One person is reported dead with others in critical conditions in a gory accident on the Konongo –Yarkwei highway in the Ashanti region.
Reports suggest that the accident involved a Mercedes Sprinter with registration number GT 6391-18 and a Kia truck GE 4485-09 during a chase by the Asante Akyem Central Municipal taskforce that was after the Mercedes vehicle.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the surviving mate of the Mercedes vehicle, James Mensah said they were travelling from Kumasi when “a passenger alighted at Konongo and suddenly the taskforce operation vehicle crossed us and chased us so the driver moved and left me behind.

“So I took a taxi to meet my driver but saw the operation car return with people shouting that the vehicle that was being chased was involved in an accident with about 12 passengers who were in injured,” he narrated.
The Secretary of Konongo Garage Association, Opiya Mansah, who spoke to Adom News lamented about the absence of an ambulance to convey the victims to the hospital.
