With her newly acquired master’s degree in public health, Sinare is set to make significant contributions in the healthcare industry.

She pledged to continue her impactful work through her NGO, indicating a commitment to addressing healthcare challenges and making a positive difference in communities.

According to Pulse Nigeria, Nkechi, on Saturday, hosted her friends and well-wishers at a party in remembrance of the one-year demise of her mother.

The party held in Lagos was filled with glam and splendour, and when the guests were ready to go home, they were handed souvenirs as it’s the custom of Nigerian events.

Nkechi, however, elected to spice things up by including different types of dildos in the gift bag.

One of the guests at the event shared a clip of her gift bag and the different sex toys in it on social media and it instantly generated attention.

The seasoned thespian in a media interview with Inkblot, narrated her journey into Nollywood.

Nse said: “After school I didn’t think I was going to be an actor. It wasn’t the first thing on my mind. I did it in a bid to run away from getting married early.“I ran away from home with a backpack. It was the second time ever I had got on a bus.

“So I got on a bus and instead of going to Satellite Town, where we lived at the time, I went the other way towards Badagry, because I wanted to run away. “Then, in some village along that road, I saw cameras. So I jumped down and that was the first time I met Kate Henshaw. “That was 1996, when I graduated.

That’s how I met Julius Agwu, Francis Agwu — all of them were on that set. “The movie was called ‘Scars of Womanhood’ I think. But for me, it was not so much about the work.

It was that I wasn’t home.“I got down from the bus and I told them I read Theatre Arts. They said oh okay, she (Kate Henshaw) needs a friend. I met her (Kate) and we formed a bond that has lasted till tomorrow.

“Meanwhile, my mother was looking for me. I got back home after about two weeks and my mother started washing me: ‘You are going to disgrace me!’ I said ‘Ah, I don’t want to marry’.“I didn’t tell her about the movie set. I just told her that it looks like I’m going to be an actress and she said ‘Over my dead body’.”

The thespian, who hails from Lesotho, is known for being open and honest about her life experiences and what she has been through.

Speaking in the first episode of an interview, she spoke about a time in her life when she was a sex worker, “I am a girl from Lesotho, I have had so many jobs, I have been a domestic worker, a nurse aid, a tea girl,” she explained.

She then went on to add, “when you speak about prostitutes, I have been that, the children must eat, I must survive. I have done anything for survival but by the grace of God, I am now the most respected and loved actress.”

On the stigmatization of prostitution, she said, “when people speak ill of prostitutes, I get so angry because no one ever desires to be a prostitute, circumstances lead them there.”

The famous actress went on to reveal that she was once a victim of sexual abuse, further shocking the Mzansi nation with how she managed to survive such traumatizing incidents without reporting or seeking help from the authorities.

Pascal Molliere, 55, from Havant in Hampshire, carried out the attack during an hour-long photography session at a warehouse in Fulham, west London, in July 2010.

Southwark Crown Court heard he locked a door before kissing and groping his victim, then aged 22.

Judge Philip Bartle QC jailed Molliere for three years

Sentencing Molliere – who has previously used the surname Gerrard – Judge Bartle said it was a “clear case of abuse of trust”, which had had a “life-changing” impact on the complainant.

He added: “This would appear to be a case where Mr Molliere exploited his position as a professional photographer to exploit the vulnerability of a trusting young woman, who was also a paying customer, to satisfy his sexual desires,” he said.

The court heard the woman had moved to London to pursue an acting career and had borrowed money from her mother to pay for portfolio images.

‘Skin crawls’

Reading her victim impact statement, the woman said the assault “crushed” her and made her “give up on her dreams”.

“I have nightmares where my skin crawls and I feel physically sick,” she said.

“After it all happened, I felt sick, disgusted with myself. For all these years I have felt guilty and ashamed that I must have done something to make him think it was what I wanted.

“I remember the feeling of fear being locked in that room.”

During the trial, Molliere said what was alleged “absolutely” did not happen and the woman had left his studio seeming “elated”, but a pre-sentence report showed he had since admitted the assault – which he said was “abhorrent” but “spontaneous”.

Known for her major role in The Johnsons series, the actress revealed that she was influenced by her peers and this led her to getting pregnant at an early age of 13.

The actress made this known in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, on his show, WithChude, where she spoke about her personal life and career.

When asked about the cause of her early pregnancy, she said: “It wasn’t my parents. I was influenced by my peers. They introduced me to ‘early sex’. One thing led to another and I got pregnant.

“I got pregnant in March and I had my baby in December same year. That means I got pregnant when I was 13+. The most beautiful part is that, on my 15th birthday, my baby was barely five months old. I was marched out of the Barracks.”

She stated that during that period, she took to alcoholism because she felt she had gotten her independence already.

Aladi Godgift was her only child despite the series of escapades she said she continued after the traumatizing childbirth experience.

Despite her early motherhood, the actress, in October 2020, lost her daughter, Aladi Godgift, who was over 30 years old.

Aladi died after an unsuccessful surgery in Abuja, and few weeks ago, the bereaved mother had visited her daughter’s grave site to mark her one year remembrance.

“One thing that has not been easy for me was the fact that I allowed my daughter to leave for Abuja. The day I made that mistake was the day I left her to leave the house. I’ve lived with that guilt all my life,” Ameh disclosed in the recent interview.

The couple got married in 2011 and have four children. They had a family photoshoot and the pictures have been released online.

She lost her long battle to breast cancer over the weekend.

Kemi Filani reports that she was diagnosed with the ailment in 2020 and her breast was cut off to prevent further damage.

She was a founding member of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and former vice-chairperson of Lagos AGN.

While confirming her demise, the chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos state chapter, Emeka Rising Ibe, said he is still in shock over the sad incident as madam Chima was a dedicated member and good woman.

“She called me last week and pleaded due to ill health not to remove her from the verification exercise I embarked on to ascertain true members of the guild in Lagos..

“Yesterday morning, I got a call that she was dead. Though I am yet to visit the family, it is a great loss to us. I pray for the repose of her soul,” he wrote.

Her family is yet to release official statement on her death.

The couple tied the knot in Ghana, Attoh’s home country, in 2015 but have since separated despite having a son.

Although they have hardly spoken out about the cause of the separation, Adegbite has admitted that the lessons from that marriage are worth penning down in a book.

In a chat with Punch Newspaper’s Sunday Scoop, Adegbite said, “I learnt a lot from my past experience (in marriage) and I may have to write a book about it. According to her, the campaign, dubbed ‘Operation Remove Your Panties’, is targeted at helping save the lives of women.

The founder of Blanche Foundation made the initiative known during an interaction with a selected number of media houses at the PM’s Bar in North Kaneshie on Saturday.

She noted that the campaign is advising young ladies to refrain from wearing panties since they play a major role in the cause of infections – like Candida – in the female genital organ.

In an interview with Nana Qwame Larbi of Hitz FM, Baby Blanche said;

“The whole initiative is to help ladies free themselves from infections which most ladies suffer as a result of wearing panties. I have practiced it and it has helped me. I also want to impact this same practice onto others.

“I can’t preach about going ‘pantyless’ and contradict myself by wearing them. I am not wearing Panties as I speak to you.”

The actress, who admitted that she hasn’t sought advice from any medical professional, said that she commenced her campaign based on her personal experience and also research from the internet.

Baby, who is fully aware of the controversy her campaign can generate, stressed that it took her a lot of courage to boldly put this campaign into action.

She and her foundation have plans to take the campaign across the country and possibly to the world at large.

The actress revealed that she has fallen in love with a guy who ‘kidnapped’ her and has “been swept off” her entire feet.

Speaking to Joy Prime’s Ibrahim Ben-Bako at the premieriing of ‘Damaged Goods’ by Roverman Productions, the actress, who seemed to be clearly smitten, admitted that she did not believe very much in the concept of love until she fell in love with her ‘kidnapper’ whom she said is a descent of two French countries.

“I never believed in this love thing until it struck me like thunderbolt. We met in a very dramatic way; I thought I was being kidnapped; I probably was being kidnapped,” she said.

Christabel Ekeh, who is of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent, narrated the occurrence.

“I was bored and I went somewhere and this guy just whisked me away. In the beginning I was scared, and then I was curious and I found myself in his home and I was curious again; I thought I should blow the alarm, by then I was dating somebody but I noticed I wasn’t even in love because the person came, he knew something was wrong, he brought in the police, I managed to get out of his hold (the kidnapper), but I went back. That’s why I said I fell in love with my kidnapper.”

The actress, who was reluctant to give any more information about her love, did mention that he was ‘famous and rich’.

That probably leaves her fans with three clues; French decent, rich and famous.

It is however unclear, whether or not the actress is referring to a figurative kidnapping or an actual one.

Christabel Ekeh, who is 26, is known for movies like ‘Corporate Game’, ‘Sweet Mistake’, and the popular, ‘Potomanto’ released in 2013.

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES, Omotola opens up about her career, marriage and playing a controversial character in Alter Ego.

PT: You went off the scene for three years. Was this deliberate?
Omotola: Yes it was. I knew I was going to embark on a break so I starred in a few movies, which have not been released. I shot Blood on the Lagoon with Teco Benson, and another one in London called Amina, which are yet to be released. I got to that point when I felt like nothing was challenging me anymore and I began to feel like my standard was dropping. I went through that period and I knew I needed to stay away and wait for Nollywood to catch up with some of our ideas.

PT: Do you think starring in Chineze Anyaene’s 2010 movie, Ije, in the United States, sort of placed you on a pedestal?

Omotola: Well, I knew cinema movies were the next step for me. After starring in Ije I knew that the industry was not moving fast enough and I knew the only way out for me was to make that sacrifice and just dropout. So I starred in movies that I thought could hold forth for me while I concentrate on other things like building my business. Coming back was hard for me because I was aiming for that movie that would challenge. I was looking for something as strong as or better than Mortal Inheritance. I knew I had to reset my mindset, I was looking for something that would excite me the same way Mortal Inheritance did. I got a lot of scripts and none of them filled that gap. I could have taken up some of them for the sake of money. But I have gone past that point.

PT: Your fans can’t stop talking about your sex scenes in Alter Ego. Was your husband comfortable with you playing the role?

Omotola: Some of the sex scenes in Alter Ego were downplayed because I’m married. But I won’t play the sex scenes if it wasn’t necessary to be included in the film. I know by starring in this movie that my fans would either hate me or love me forever. While shooting the film, I knew I was doing something quite risky. There are several ways to shoot a sex scene tastefully. I’m all for playing a sex scene convincingly and my husband knows this. I tell my husband, “You know what darling, you married an actor”; and secondly, he is my biggest fan. I tell him, “Do you want me to be great or do you just want me to be good?” He will say, “I want you to be great, sparklingly great”. Then I’ll say, “Ehen, we go love o” and he’s fine with it. He understands but just like every other human being and the professional that he is, he too wants to be convinced that I played a sex scene because it was necessary. I know when he watches movies sometimes he would say, “Did they have to kiss if they were not going to kiss well?”

PT: You got pretty raunchy with your co-stars in your latest movie, Alter Ego. Are you ready for viewer’s criticisms?

Omotola: When I wasn’t even confident, I starred in a movie called a prostitute, which was released 22 years ago. If I didn’t die then, is it now? I’m ready.

PT: Playing a believable sex scene would mean going extra lengths. Do you think Nigerians will embrace such films?

Omotola: You don’t even have to “chop” somebody’s mouth if you don’t want to. If the scene is not about you showing real mad crazy love then you can’t now be showing mouth to mouth kissing or removing of clothes. In Nigerian movies, we have downplayed chemistry. I hope we can bring that back. Back in the day when I shot Mortal Inheritance in 1995, I had to spend time with my co-star, Fred Amata. He was already a renowned director and in those days, directors were revered. So imagine, my director who had directed me in a movie prior now acting as my lover. I was really afraid but we broke the ice by spending time with each other. So, he demystified himself and we had chemistry and you could tell. So, I’m hoping all of this returns to Nigerian movies. So, as professionals, we need to ask ourselves if it is necessary for a movie to have a sex scene and when it is, it should be done well.

When you ask a lot of adults, you might find out that some people have been abused as children. And if we want to tell ourselves the truth, how many of us were actually able to tell our parents about this?
In Africa, it’s always a taboo to say, “uncle, somebody touched me”. They will practically ask you one million questions. “What did you say to him? How were you sitting? What were you wearing?” As if it’s your fault, you become the victim. Alter Ego sets out to address how sexual abuse affects victims as kids and as adults.
Sometimes, you see people as adults behave in a certain way, but because we have not diagnosed this problem – because in Africa, you are either just crazy and should go to Yaba Left; but we don’t think about the fact that people actually have psychological trauma and that PTSD actually affect Africans. We think it’s an Oyibo disease.

PT: Why were you drawn to Alter Ego?

Omotola: It’s the soul of the movie. It must come quickly in a movie and must also be underlining throughout the film. Some come naturally while some don’t. The movie got me on time because I switch very quickly; so if I read through the first 10 pages of a movie script and I don’t get the story, I get bored. I loved the film from the beginning but it was a diamond in the rough. I knew what was lacking in it. So, I called the director and told him we will have to tear the script apart and rebuild it and he gave me his nod. It takes a big mind to shoot Alter Ego.

PT: You once hinted of plans to build a film village in Badagry in conjunction with your husband. Will it be ready anytime soon?

Omotola: I hope it will be ready next year hopefully. I also began another project on Mobolaji Bank Anthony,Lagos, which is supposed to be annex of the film village first called, Double Doors. So, these are some of the things I was busy putting together when I went off the scene. I have always said that what we need in Nollywood is infrastructure. So, I needed to start building infrastructure.

PT: Do you think the Buhari administration has done enough for Nollywood?

Omotola: I think this government needs to wake up. The sad part is that they go around the world and they brag about Nollywood. That’s why I don’t understand how to brag about something you are not helping enough. They need to understand that Nollywood in itself is a force and it should have its own ministry. We have a problem in Nigeria which is that we are afraid to allow ourselves be great. So, instead of allowing someone who knows his or her onions do the job we put stumbling blocks because of “see finish”. But if a white person comes along, we will support him or her. We need to start supportting ourselves. You will be amazed to know that Nollywood is the second (highest) employer of labour in Nigeria after agriculture. I think if they want to be sincere they will say Nollywood is number one. Why don’t we forget our immediate petty jealousy and begin to invest in this industry?

PT: You have yet to star in a Yoruba film?

Omotola: I starred in one a long time ago titled No Rival and Oyato. I might be shooting one soon. It’s not a fully Yoruba film; it’s a collaboration. I’m currently reading the script.

Recall that the actress in a recent interview had regretted dating her former boyfriend, Seun Egbegbe, who is currently cooling his feet in Kirikiri prison in Lagos state.

Toyin said she almost killed herself because of depression, as she was taking all manner of drugs, and started losing brink of reality.

The Ibadan-born actress told Broadway TV how she suffered depression after her marriage to fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson crashed.

She said, “I have to deal with depression and drugs. I didn’t plan for a broken home and then it came. And after my marriage there were so many negativities.

“And I was emotionally carried away and I did not heal before jumping into another relationship. I thought was going be heal by going into another relationship but then I realized I don’t love myself and I want people around to love me.

“I wasn’t focusing on things that matter but on things do not really matter. I always choose people before me. I think I didn’t love myself. I was losing touch with things that used to work for me because I was involved in negative habits like drugs, smoking, cocaine and all this things are very bad.

“Cocaine is very bad. It gives you negative energy. And sometimes, even when I do something very positive, it will just end up being negative so I had to stop.”

The actress’s pictures were part of some naked pictures that went viral on Facebook and Instagram last week.

The suspect confesses to being driven by jealousy to alter the picture of the actress and joined it to a naked body that matches her complexion.

She was arrested upon a tip-off.

According to the actress, the conduct of the lady was borne out of jealousy.

“I am a renowned upcoming actress and she has posted my photo and photoshopped some naked pictures and added mine to it and it was all over on social media. I want her to be behind bars for such disgusting acts.

“She used to be a friend on social media but I blocked her after hearing reports that she uses people’s photos for bad things until she actually did same to me and that’s why I led the police to arrest her because she only wants to destroy my reputation and I won’t allow her” she told Adom News.

Destina Tata, whose mobile phone keeps on ringing since the pictures were released, said she joined forces with colleagues to arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile the culprit, Shanti K who is currently in the grips of the Tesano police has apologized for her act and hopes the actress forgives her for such barbaric acts.

According to her, she was driven into altering the pictures of the actress because of jealousy.

She said she was displeased with the manner her boyfriend has been liking the actress’ pictures on social media.

The suspect’s boyfriend was formerly going out with the victim until they broke up in 2013.

Fearing her relationship was in jeopardy because of the boyfriend’s attitude, she decided to disparage the reputation of the actress.

According to the suspect, she employed someone who doctored the actress’ picture and joined it to a naked body that matches her complexion.

The naked pictures were then released on social media.

Meanwhile, the police have begun investigations into the matter.

The snake was hung around the actress’s neck for a few seconds when she started screaming and begging for it to be removed.

She was unable to go ahead with the shoot NEWS-ONE gathered, as she refused to use the snake in the scene.

“I was scared it would bite me, hence I started shouting. I couldn’t continue the shoot,” she confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Details about the upcoming movie are murky but it is being directed by Pascal Amanfo and features other stars, including Bismark The Joke.
