Former Ghana Premier League referee, Thomas Nunu has described a false the claims by former Premier League Board Chairman, Twentor Mensah that referees were paid in advance.
Mr Mensah in an interview on the Ultimate Sports Show explained that referees during his reign were paid five matches in advance through the Referees Association of Ghana.

But in a rebuttal on the same show, Mr Nunu said that was never the case.
“No referee was ever and has ever been paid in advance. All they provided was accommodation which the hotels later refused us because the Premier League Board was running into huge debts that were not forthcoming”, he fumed.

Mr Nunu who is also a former Treasurer of the Referees Association of Ghana said he never received cash as advanced payments from the Premier League Board under Mr Mensah.
On the way forward, the former referee advised the Normalization Committee to make the welfare of referees a priority.
