The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the printing of Voters Register outside the outfit of the Electoral Commission (EC) could compromise the credibility of the 2020 elections.

To the NDC, their statement stems from their checks which suggest that the Jean Mensa- led EC has submitted the data of the register to be printed by a third party.

Addressing a news conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Thursday, the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo said the action by the EC, which is against the law, will also give room to third parties to have access to critical and sensitive data.

“This act by the EC is the first in electoral management in the nation’s history and it will compromise the credibility of the 2020 general election. The EC has developed enough capacity to carry out the printing of the Voters Register over the years and despite the EC’s ability to do so, it didn’t,” he said.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo added that: “There is a deliberate attempt by the Jean-Mensah and Bossman Asare-led EC to create a total mess out of the register and in an attempt to clean it, favour the incumbent party which is the New Patriotic Party.”
