The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has convened a meeting with stakeholders in the rubber industry to address key challenges affecting the sector, including concerns over raw rubber pricing.
The engagement brought together rubber farmers, association representatives, processors, officials from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Tree Crops Development Authority, and other stakeholders across the value chain.
In her remarks, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building an industrialised Ghana where raw materials are sourced, processed, and manufactured locally.
She urged stakeholders to comply with the government’s ban on the export of raw rubber and assured them that her ministry would collaborate with relevant agencies to address bottlenecks in the rubber value chain, ensuring benefits for all stakeholders.
The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, encouraged all participants to work collectively to safeguard their businesses and strengthen the rubber industry.
The engagement is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to tackle challenges facing the rubber sector and enhance the competitiveness of Ghana’s agribusiness industry.
