Nations FC forward Emmanuel Annor has revealed that the club’s inconsistent start to the Ghana Premier League season became the driving force behind their impressive run to the MTN FA Cup final.
Annor made the disclosure after scoring the decisive goal in a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Aduana FC in the semi-final clash at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Friday.
Reflecting on the team’s journey, the forward explained that the squad made a conscious decision to prioritize the FA Cup following a difficult spell in the league, compounded by a change in the technical setup.
“It’s really important for us because we all know we didn’t start the league very well,” Annor said.
“So, we channeled everything into this FA Cup. Throughout the week, we’ve been having a lot of discussions amongst ourselves, and glory be to God, it happened today,” he added.
Under the guidance of head coach Frimpong Manso, the Abrankese-based side displayed discipline and resilience to secure a historic first-ever appearance in the final of Ghana’s oldest knockout competition.
Nations FC will now await the outcome of the other semi-final tie between Medeama SC and Dreams FC as they prepare for a shot at silverware.
