The Kyekyeku and Ghanalogue highlife band on Sunday thrilled patrons of the much-anticipated 2019 Vis-à-Vis festival with their spectacular highlife tunes at Etnosur, Spain.
The band’s amazing performance swept thousands of patrons of their feet who danced endlessly as great and authentic rhyming highlife music filled with stories of Ghana, on religion and real life stories played out.
Speaking in an interview with Cynthia Tima Yeboah of the Multimedia Group, Kyekyeku pledged his support to fly high the flag of Ghana and the Ghanaian Highlife music.
“Ghana has a rich culture and it is important for musicians to tell the culture and history of Ghana in our highlife music. We must research on what we have lost in our culture and try to rekindle it because that has been the whole idea behind kyekyeku music,” he said.
Kyekyeku advised upcoming musicians to focus more on what they can do for the Ghanaian entertainment industry than the monetary profit.
The band also expressed their profound gratitude to the Ghana Creative Arts Council, the Spanish Ambassador and the organisers of the festival, Casa Africa for supporting highlife music.
