Three pupils of the Redemption School Complex at Afadaa in Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region are reported injured after their dilapidated classroom block collapsed in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He said the building collapsed while a class was in session but majority of the pupils managed to escaped.

It is unclear whether the attention of the school’s authorities was drawn to the building defects.

But Assembly member for the Okwabena Electoral area, Hussein Tahiru revealed that, there were visible cracks on the classroom building.

However, efforts to get the authorities to relocate the pupils to another building proved futile.

Tahiru added that, but for the intervention of some security personnel, many would have been killed.

The injured pupils are receiving treatment at the Bawjiase Hospital.
