Communication Director of Ghana Gas Company, Ernest Owusu Bempah has descended on a former member of the Gas Company board, Dr Valerie Sawyerr, for challenging a forensic audit report commissioned into the company’s activities.
The said report is alleged to have uncovered a US$137,861,127.15 in procurement breaches at the company under the Mahama administration when Dr Sawyer was a member of the company’s board.
The forensic audit conducted by Morrison and Associates is said to have detected that helicopters purchased from China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) by Ghana Gas have never been used for purposes for which they were acquired.

According to the audit report, as a result of the situation, an amount of $54,800,000 has gone down the drain as “financial loss to the state.”
In a response, through an article written by her, the former deputy chief of staff said the report lacked quality and substance.
“Was the so-called investigator aware that the board members he listed in his ‘awam’ report were not the Ghana Gas board members on January 6, 2017, just before Government changed hands; Or did a very simple thing like that escape his eager digging claws” she queried.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Tuesday, Mr Owusu Bempah condemned the conduct of Dr Valerie Sawyerr for her article, especially when she presided over the ‘stinking’ deal.
He urged Dr Valerie Sawyerr to subject herself to investigations for acts he claims have caused financial loss to the state.
“Valerie should stop talking plenty and stop writing long articles. She sat on a board and presided over a contract that’s not meant for its intended purpose. All Ghana gas is asking for is an audit report.

“She is not getting it, it’s not about writing plenty to show that you know how to write,” he said.
Dr Valerie Sawyer is just a thief. We cannot believe such a woman can hide behind Prez Mahama and steal Ghana for 140million dollars through Ghana gas company.How can Gas company enter a deal to buy helicopters without the Ghana Airforce?
