Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced that all 8,000 newly recruited health workers are expected to begin work by July as the government finalises the placement process.

Speaking on the status of the recruitment exercise, Mr. Akandoh said the Ministry of Health is working to ensure a smooth transition of the recruits into the healthcare system and is confident that all outstanding administrative procedures will be completed within the month.

“I don’t want to give a specific date, but at the latest, I think by July we should be done with it. We are looking at them starting work in July,” he stated.

The Minister disclosed that the Ministry will soon publish the names of all recruited personnel, along with details of the locations where they are expected to attend interviews.

According to him, the publication is intended to provide clarity for applicants and address concerns regarding postings and interview arrangements.

“We are going to publish all the names and where they’ll be going for their interviews,” he said, adding that successful candidates would be formally absorbed into the health sector after completing the necessary processes.

Mr. Akandoh further revealed that the deployment of the newly recruited health workers will prioritise rural and underserved communities, where staffing shortages continue to affect healthcare delivery.

He noted that the government remains committed to strengthening the country’s healthcare system by ensuring that health facilities, particularly those in deprived areas, have the personnel needed to provide quality healthcare services.
