Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, says a new Voters Register is not needed ahead of the 2020 polls.

In his view, there is no reason to compile a new Voters Register if the Electoral Commission (EC) has come out to say the Voters Register is clean and credible ahead of the district Assembly elections.

“The Deputy Chairman of the EC said the Voters Register they used for the district elections is very credible. They claim they have removed names of dead people and that of those who have registered twice. If everything has been done to make the register better why compile a new one?” he quizzed.

According to him, compiling a new Voters Register will not change the results of the 2020 elections.

“The Voters Register in 2012 and 2016 didn’t affect the results of the elections in any way so I don’t understand why they insist on producing a new Voters Register, it is not needed,” he said in an interview on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

He said the reasons for compiling a new Voters Register are not tangible enough to incur more cost to the State.
