The Bosome Freho District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has cut sod for the construction of a modern 24-hour economy market at Tebeso No. 2 as part of efforts to boost commercial activities and create employment opportunities for residents.
The project, which is part of the government’s 24-hour economy initiative, is expected to be completed within 36 months and will serve as a major trading hub for traders and businesses within the district and surrounding communities.

Speaking at a ceremony to officially commence the project, the District Chief Executive, Charles Appiah Kubi, called on residents to cooperate fully with the contractor to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
He said the Assembly would closely monitor the progress of work to prevent the project from being abandoned.
“I will personally monitor the contractor to ensure that work progresses steadily and the project is completed on time. We do not want this to become one of the abandoned projects in the district. We are committed to seeing it through to completion for the benefit of our people,” he assured.

The contractor, Neckseth Construction, after receiving the project documents, also assured residents of its commitment to delivering the project within the stipulated time frame.
The Chief of Tebeso, Nana Appiah Anniamah, appealed to the government and all stakeholders not to allow the market project to suffer the fate of previously abandoned projects in the area.
He expressed concern over the impact abandoned projects have had on development in the community.
“One major challenge affecting development in our community is the issue of abandoned projects by successive governments. It is a waste of taxpayers’ money, and we are pleading with the government to ensure this project is completed,” he stated.
The proposed 24-hour economy market is expected to include about 300 lockable shops, over 500 stalls, a police post, fire service post, clinic, pharmacy, rest house, warehouse facilities, sanitation infrastructure, and other essential amenities aimed at improving trading activities and enhancing local economic growth.
