Aggrieved residents of Loho in the Nadowli-Kaleo District stormed the Upper West Regional Police Headquarters over the alleged murder of a 27-year-old musician, Amos Zumankyere by a police officer on January 8, 2024.

According to reports, the deceased and a friend were returning from Kaleo on a motorbike when two police officers stopped them for routine checks.

Reports suggest that, without provocation, one of the police officers allegedly fired a shot, critically injuring Skelenzy.

The young musician underwent two surgeries after the bullet hit his abdomen.

Sadly, Skelenzy succumbed to his injuries five days ago but his Fedelis, who sustained gunshot wounds in his thigh survived.

Based on this backdrop, angry youth of Loho stormed to the Upper West Regional Police Headquarters to demand justice for their fallen brother.

They called for the police officer to face the full rigours of the law and also demanded the body of Skelenzy for a proper burial.

Leaders of the group were allowed to meet Regional Police Commander, DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey.

The Commander told them the police officer involved in the shooting has been interdicted and necessary processes are underway to release Skelenzy’s body for burial.
