The Vice Chairman of the Council of Churches in Krachi West and Head Pastor of the Evangelical Church of Ghana (ECG) in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region, Bishop Philemon Faram, has urged Ghanaians to recommit themselves to national values of discipline as a pathway to sustainable development.

Bishop Faram made the call while addressing congregants and invited guests at the 2nd National Thanksgiving and Prayer event, an initiative aimed at encouraging citizens to reflect on Ghana’s journey, abandon negative habits, and renew their commitment to discipline, unity and hope.

He stressed that development cannot thrive in an environment where corruption, poor work attitudes, and other societal vices are tolerated.

According to him, Ghana’s progress depends largely on the mindset and conduct of its people, noting that “the nation cannot develop with a bad-minded attitude.”

He therefore called on citizens to resist practices that undermine growth and to demonstrate integrity and responsibility in their daily lives, whether in public office, private enterprise or community leadership.

Bishop Faram further highlighted the importance of collective ownership of national priorities, explaining that setting the development agenda should not be left to one side of the political divide.

He said resetting the national agenda should be a bipartisan and shared responsibility involving government, traditional authorities, religious bodies, civil society and individuals.

He urged residents to be proactive and accountable in whatever role they occupy, adding that national transformation begins with personal commitment to doing what is right.

Also speaking at the event, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi West, Prosper Addo, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and social intervention programmes.

He expressed gratitude for what he described as transparent leadership and commended the administration for progress made within a relatively short period, noting that improvements are being witnessed in infrastructure and social support initiatives.

The MCE appealed to the people of Krachi West to continue praying for the nation’s leadership and for the Member of Parliament, Helen Adjoa Ntoso, as the municipality pursues additional development projects.

He also highlighted ongoing social and infrastructure projects within the municipality and called for cooperation among residents to ensure successful implementation.

The event also showcased a strong sense of interfaith harmony, as members of the Muslim community joined the observance.

Participants from the Islamic faith recited the Qur’an and offered prayers for national development, further reinforcing the theme of unity.
