Residents of Nante-Zongo in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region are living in fear after a fuel tanker loaded with petrol broke down along the highway and has remained unattended for four days.

The vehicle has been stuck at Zongo since last Sunday, raising serious safety concerns among the community, especially as there is currently no fire appliance in the district and no police presence to secure the area.

Many residents worry that any spark or accident could trigger a major explosion, given the highly flammable nature of the cargo.

Speaking to Adom News, some worried residents expressed their fears about the potential danger the situation poses to their lives and properties.

The Assembly Member for Nante-Zongo, Patrick Ayamboya, also shared his concerns and revealed the steps he has taken with security agencies to address the issue.

The prolonged presence of the broken tanker has left many in the community anxious, with calls for immediate intervention by the relevant authorities to tow the vehicle and secure the area before a disaster occurs.
