Comrade Godwin Ayaba Mahama (GAM) has dismissed claims circulating on social media suggesting that he is not a registered voter in the Greater Accra Region and did not vote in the 2024 General Elections.
In a disclaimer issued on June 8, 2026, he described the allegations as false and misleading, insisting that he remains a registered voter at Domeabra-Obom Constituency, specifically at the Obom Primary Branch.
“It has come to my attention that a false narrative is being circulated claiming that I did not vote in the Greater Accra Region during the 2024 General Elections… I wish to state categorically that I am a registered voter in the Greater Accra Region,” he stated.
He explained that he has always voted in the constituency and has neither transferred his vote nor intends to do so.
Mr Mahama further rejected calls from some individuals urging delegates not to support him should he decide to contest for the position of Greater Accra Regional Secretary.
He said his long-standing service to the party in various capacities—including the Youth Wing, Organisational Wing, Communication Wing, and campaign structures—demonstrates his commitment to the party regardless of whether it is in government or opposition.
“I therefore urge my supporters, delegates, and the general public to disregard this false and misleading propaganda, which is clearly intended to undermine my credibility,” he said.
He added that although he was unsuccessful in a previous regional contest, he accepted the outcome in good faith and has continued to serve the party.
“The encouragement and confidence shown to me by many delegates remain my motivation, and no amount of misinformation will change that. Man is not God,” he stated.
Mr Mahama called for calm, unity, and focus among supporters, adding that he will make his future political intentions known at the appropriate time.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working towards unity, cooperation, and progress within the Greater Accra Region.
