Former captain of the Black Stars, C. K Akunnor has said the current technical team are doing a good job and needs to be supported even in difficult times.

The Black stars lost 1-0 to Kenya in their AFCN 2019 qualifier last Saturday and the technical team led by coach Akwasi Appiah has been heavily criticized but the former Ashgold manager believes it is not only about winning.

“Akwasi Appiah and the coaching staff are doing a good job and Ghanaians need to be less critical. It is not always about winning games but it is important Appiah develops a good team”, he said.

The former Hearts of Oak trainer further expressed his displeasure at the attitude of the players on the field of play on Saturday and asked them to back up.

He believes that, as much as we praise the team when they perform well, we should be patient and allow the technical team to build a solid team for the nation.

“The players played badly especially in the first half on Saturday but let us not bash the technical team too much. This is the first time Akwasi Appiah has lost on his return to the senior National team and he should be allowed to work”, he added.

C.K Akuunor believes Ghanaians are blowing the case of captaincy out of proportion and advocated we ceasefire and concentrate on building a solid team.

“I like the Ayew brothers especially Jordan because of play. Let us stop dragging the captaincy issue, the decision always lies with the manager and we must all support the team.  It should not be a problem. I believe the Ayew brothers and Asamoah Gyan will be a part of the team when we qualify for AFCON 2019″.
