The Nii Agbo Mantey family of Tema New Town are up in arms against the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) for allegedly selling the family’s land to a private developer.
At a press conference during which the Nii Agbo Mantey family led by chief of Otagbanor Nii Tetteh Akwadwo III, were clad in red bands and cloth, the called on government to intervene for TDC to stay off their lands.
Speaking to Adomonline.com Nii Tetteh Akwadwo explained that some containers have been placed on the land but when they confronted the site Engineer, he only gave the excuse that the equipment belong to construction company Engineers & Planners; and they are only using the place to store their equipment.
The chief says they do not believe in the story because the land has been graded, a foundation has been dug and it is likely concrete works will begin soon.
According to him, several attempts to meet with officials of the TDC to seek clarity have been met with stony silence.
The family will be forced to go to court if TDC fails to clarify why their land is being used by someone without their knowledge or permission.
