A driver has been rescued and rushed to hospital following a road accident on the Akropong–Akufo road on the night of June 1, 2026.
The accident involved a Toyota Corolla which reportedly overturned several times after hitting a pothole while negotiating a sharp curve under heavy fog conditions.
According to reports, the driver became trapped in the vehicle after the crash but was rescued by nearby residents before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
He was given initial assistance before being transported to the Mampong TQM Hospital for further treatment.
The extent of injuries sustained by the driver is yet to be officially confirmed.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about road safety on the stretch, particularly the poor condition of parts of the roadway and reduced visibility during foggy weather conditions.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
